Vision and Mission
Who We Are
Founded in 2002, the Santa Fe Alliance is a non-profit membership organization devoted to building a stronger local economy. We are working to build a local living economy, which ensures that economic power resides locally and sustains vibrant, livable communities and healthy ecosystems.
We envision a just and sustainable global economy created by local economies that enhance community life, provide economic and social justice, and support locally owned businesses.
Through education, outreach, and advocacy, our mission is building a healthy local economy while preserving a strong sense of community.
Why Local Matters
- A strong local economy sustains the wisest stewards of our environment, our natural resources, our lands, our neighborhoods, and our cultural traditions.
- Money that circulates locally increases community wealth. Locally-owned businesses make more local purchases and contribute more to civic causes.
- A strong local economy increases social capital and equality by offering young people more entering jobs, more mentorship, and more opportunities for advancement and entrepreneurship.
How We Make A Difference
- The voice of the locally owned-independent business is underrepresented; we represent locally owned independent businesses only, and provide a collective on their behalf.
- We are poised to respond to the immediate needs of local businesses and the community because of strong partnerships with key leaders in the community.
- Our grassroots principles guide us in all that we do so that we have the greatest impact throughout the community.
- We are a leader among our national organizations and shine a spotlight on the innovations, creative community, and healthy business climate in Santa Fe. We are committed to connecting our local businesses and community to national and global issues. Our memberships in national organizations help us provide a collective voice on national issues.
- We have grown to become the 3rd largest independent business alliance in the country and now the Southwest Regional hub for other communities through our national organization, Business Alliance for Local Living Economies
