Why is Amavi a Farm to Restaurant participant?
New Amavi chef, Megan Tucker, has implemented a "Farm Card" system. This is a step in service where the server greets the table after they sit down. The server presents the table with the farm card. This card states Amavi's commitment to local producers and lists the farms and products on the menu that day.
She shops at the Farmers Market, buys through La Montanita Coop Distribution and she has a few friends who farm to grow products for her.
Why is purchasing local important?
"Purchasing local food is important to me for many reasons: money stays local and supports families, foods are fresher, more nutritious, and more interesting."What does she buy and from whom?
Produce, meat and cheese from Romero Farms, Talus Wind Ranch, Old Windmill Dairy and Sweetwoods Creamery.
Ask the Staff!
They print their menus daily and have a pre-service meeting where they talk about new menu items.
