Workforce Development & Green Jobs
The Alliance is involved with workforce development issues such as job training and retention.
- In 2006 we launched the Workforce Development Initiative, an ongoing project to address issues of our community’s at-risk youth and provide meaningful training opportunities with local businesses.
- In 2007, the Santa Fe Alliance Board of Directors resolved to support the proposal of a city-wide living wage of $9.50 and a cost of living increasing thereafter, joining several organizations across Santa Fe working toward a sustainable community with better workforce opportunities.
- In 2008 we helped launch The Santa Fe Green Collar Jobs Campaign to target disconnected youth by offering school credit and job training in green industry jobs. The goal is to provide a pathway out of poverty for drop-outs in our community through meaningful career opportunities with local businesses.
- The Alliance is partners with Santa Fe Community College, Earth Care International, Youth Works!, Monte del Sol Charter School, Santa Fe Area Homebuilders Association, New Mexico Workforce Solutions (MAKE LINKS), and several local business owners to work on the WDI.
